We will conduct a free and fair election—Abankwa to NPP flagbearer contenders

Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah, Deputy Chairman of the NPP Election Committee, has assured party members of a transparent and fair electoral process ahead of upcoming internal elections.
Speaking after receiving nomination forms from the first applicant Kwabena Agyepong, Mr Yeboah confirmed that the committee had received all required documents. He noted minor issues with some forms but promised that these would be addressed:
“We noticed that there were one or two things which are not development and other things, but with that one we will look at it. If there are any shortfalls, we will let you know in the discussion at the back door,” he said.
Yeboah expressed gratitude to the applicant for completing the sometimes “hectic” process of picking and submitting forms:
“I want to thank you for all the guidance, for the opportunity to pick your forms, go through the hectic and the courier tax of running around the country to present the forms today. As the first applicant, I want to wish you well on behalf of the committee,” he added.
Highlighting the committee’s commitment to inclusivity, Yeboah said:
“As we did the last time, we will make sure that we involve all the parties in decisions we take. We will create an internal IPAC where you have representatives who will be on the committee, who will lead with us, so that together we will make sure that we build a free and fair, transparent election.”
He also appealed for calm among party members, acknowledging tensions within the NPP:
“There is a lot of tension in the party, especially leading to the picking and presentation of forms. But I want to say that we cannot lead a party which is disintegrated,” Yeboah said.
