All five aspirants in the New Patriotic Party’s contest for the 2028 flagbearer slot have assured former President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of their support for whoever emerges as the winner in the 2026 January 31 contest.
According to them, they will not abandon the ship if they are not chosen by the delegates of the political party.
They made this known when they met with the former president at a breakfast meeting on October 21, 2025.
A statement from the former President’s office said, “In a significant show of solidarity, each of the five aspirants gave their personal assurance, and that of their campaign teams, to maintain a healthy but competitive campaign atmosphere. Furthermore, they expressed their commitment and that of their supporters, to rally behind the eventual winner and uphold the unity of the party after the primaries”.
