We won’t sit idle if you misbehave – Ken Agyapong camp warns Bawumia’s team

The campaign team of Assin Central MP Ken Ohene Agyapong has issued a stern warning to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s camp over what it describes as “vicious and unprovoked” attacks from one of his loyalists, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA.
In a statement released on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Ken Ohene Agyapong Campaign said it would not remain silent while personal insults are directed at their candidate.
“The Ken Ohene Agyapong Campaign hereby puts on notice, in the strongest possible terms, that it will not stand idly by while surrogates of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia unleash personal attacks on Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong,” the statement read.
The campaign team accused KOKA of using a recent appearance on Wontumi Television to launch personal attacks on Mr. Agyapong.
“Our campaign has consistently focused on ideas, vision and principle. We have not resorted to personal vilification,” the team said.
“Yet, in a recent and widely circulated video on Wontumi Television, KOKA, a well-known loyalist of Dr. Bawumia, launched vicious and unprovoked attacks on the person of Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong.”
The statement described the situation as both “astonishing and hypocritical,” questioning the Vice President’s image as a peaceful leader.
“It is therefore both astonishing and hypocritical for any of Dr. Bawumia’s followers to portray him as a ‘peaceful person’ while his camp tolerates and benefits from intimidation, bullying and abusive rhetoric,” it noted.
According to the campaign, Dr. Bawumia’s silence on the issue amounts to tacit approval. “Silence in the face of such conduct is itself an endorsement.
By failing to repudiate these attacks, Dr. Bawumia and his inner circle have, through inaction, condoned them.”
The Agyapong team warned that it would not allow reckless defamation to pass without consequences. “Let there be no ambiguity: the Ken Ohene Agyapong Camp knows too much to allow reckless defamation to go unanswered,” it cautioned.
“We respectfully, but firmly, advise Dr. Bawumia’s camp to call their surrogates to order. If they choose instead to drag this campaign into the gutter of personal vilification, they will awaken consequences they will come to regret.”
The statement concluded by reaffirming the team’s commitment to peace and discipline within the New Patriotic Party but warned that such values should not be mistaken for weakness.
“We will continue to preach peace, unity and discipline within the New Patriotic Party, but peace must not be mistaken for weakness and unity must not be confused with cowardice,” it said.
