We’re committed to continuing his work – NPP Chairman on late MP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akwatia Constituency says it is fully committed to preserving the legacy of the late Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi, whose untimely death on Monday, July 7, shocked many.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Joshua Kodjo Mensah, the Akwatia Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Nana Yaw Addo, expressed the party’s resolve to honour Kumi’s memory by continuing the work he started and rallying behind the vision he believed in.

“We have work to do. And that is why we are elected and appointed as leaders. It’s not just about the constituency — we have regional leadership and we have the national party. This is bigger than us,” he said.

Nana Yaw Addo acknowledged that the loss is a difficult blow for the party and the community, but stressed that they are already mobilising efforts to stay united and move forward with strength and purpose.

“We know we will get the needed support from the region and from the national party. And as local leaders in the constituency, we are committed to making sure that Ernest Kumi’s foiled struggles over the past years will not go in vain.”

Describing Kumi as a visionary who worked tirelessly for the people of Akwatia, the chairman emphasized that continuity will be key.

“As much as it’s going to be very difficult, we know how to do the best. So we will maintain that legacy. It will be difficult, but it’s not impossible.”

According to him, consultations and internal discussions have already begun within the party to ensure they stay focused and united following the MP’s sudden passing.

“We are already in motion in terms of putting the ranks and files together to support how we progress on this matter.”
