We’re not done with demolitions

Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has served notice of continued demolitions across other Ramsar Sites following a large-scale clearance operation at Lashibi.
She assured the public that the government remains committed to reclaiming protected lands and will not stop until all encroachments are cleared.
“It wouldn’t be fair for us to demolish others and leave the rest. So the MCE is here. He will take up the rest of the demolition exercise,” Ocloo stated.
“We are not done. We have to go to Klagon. We have to go to Weija. We have to go to Adenta.”
Despite her confidence in the demolition teams, the minister revealed her hands-on approach is deliberate. “I want to be here to make sure that the right thing has been done, and so that is why I keep on policing the equipment and also the operator to make sure that the right thing has been done.”
She also celebrated the visible joy of wildlife returning to the Ramsar site: “They are happy, like you said, because I mean, these are reserve sites for them. So they’ve taken back their ownership of that.
” They are here. You can see them. I mean, they are jubilated, and so that is how it should go.”
