We’re very hopeful Akwatia will go our way – Jeff Konadu

Jeff Konadu has expressed strong optimism about his party’s chances in the upcoming Akwatia by-election, stating that the NPP is confident of retaining the parliamentary seat.
“We have a very good chance of winning these elections,” the Eastern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said in an exclusive interview with MyNewsGh.
“We’re very, very hopeful that these elections will go in our favour and that the MPP will continue to serve in that seat in Parliament.”
Konadu, however, acknowledged that their opponents in the race equally hold hopes of victory. “They also have their own beliefs and hopes. So let’s wait and see the outcome of these elections.”
Reflecting on the political turbulence that followed the last election, he criticized what he described as an unfair campaign against the former MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
“This young man was an MP for just six months. Six months and that was the end. He never knew peace,” Konadu lamented.
“They tormented this young man all throughout the process because of a fake, fake belief that they had won an election.”
He was emphatic that despite the political tensions, he has no intention of fueling violence or deploying any vigilante groups. “I’ll tell you, I am not putting in place any such vigilante group to go and protect. I am not doing that.”
Jeff Konadu said he remains confident that the people of Akwatia will speak through the ballot, adding, “Let’s see what the people say.”
