Outspoken MP Sam George is turning down the volume on the NCA’s clampdown—at least for now.
The Ningo-Prampram legislator has declared a grace period for the 64 radio stations shut down across the country, urging calm while solutions are worked out.
“We’re giving them a short window to do the right thing,” Sam George stated, as he led calls for the National Communications Authority to reconsider its heavy-handed approach.
Backing this soft landing is none other than President John Dramani Mahama, who has stepped in with a presidential directive to restore the affected stations.
The President emphasized that media freedom must not be sacrificed, even as stations work to regularize their authorization.
Mahama has tasked the Communications Ministry to liaise with the NCA, setting a reasonable timeframe for the stations to get compliant—proof that leadership doesn’t always have to come with a hammer.
