When we needed jobs, they charged us – Kennedy Agyapong blasts NPP over grassroots neglect

Former lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong has slammed his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), over what he described as deep-rooted neglect of grassroots supporters.

Without holding back, Agyapong fired at the leadership for turning their backs on loyal foot soldiers who toiled during campaigns.

“People sacrificed their lives to make you who you are. The least you can do is appreciate their efforts,” he said in an interview with Kwesi Pratt Jnr. on Pan African TV.

He revealed that many party faithfuls were not only denied appointments and job opportunities but were also subjected to humiliating treatment when they sought help.

To drive home his point, he recounted a conversation with a minister who had lost his parliamentary seat.

“He said he told some young guys to go and vote and they replied, ‘We’re not voting because when we needed jobs, they were charging us.’ And truly, truly he lost the election,” Agyapong disclosed.

The remarks have triggered intense online debate, with many party supporters echoing similar frustrations and calling for a reform in how the NPP treats its base.

Kennedy Agyapong’s brutal honesty has reignited discussions around internal party loyalty, and fairness.
