Where is the Vice-President? – NPP MP quizzes amid sideline allegations

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Trobu Constituency, Gloria Owusu has voiced her concerns over the absence of Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang from President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

The MP said she has been in contact with the Vice President and confirmed that she has recovered from her recent illness. However, Gloria Owusu claims that Professor Naana Jane has been sidelined by Mahama’s government.

Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV on April 25, 2025, Owusu alleged that there are rumours suggesting President Mahama plans to appoint a new Vice President.

She also criticised the president for failing to honour his promise of giving at least 30% of government positions to women.

She continued:

The president has made the woman sit outside his government and now wants to appoint someone else as Vice President of Ghana. What are we hearing? Is it true?

I am asking, where is Professor Naana Jane? Where is Professor Naana Jane? I am telling you, the woman is very well. Some of us speak to her and she is fine. That’s why I am asking: has our president, John Dramani Mahama, used the women and dumped them? Is it true?

Meanwhile, President Mahama recently assured the public that Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has recovered from her illness and will return to work soon.
