Why Adutwum gave GH¢200k to NPP’s Akua Afriyie

In a bid to strengthen the New Patriotic Party’s hold on the Ablekuma North seat, flagbearer hopeful Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has donated GH¢200,000 to support the party’s parliamentary candidate, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, ahead of the constituency’s re-run elections.

The donation, according to Dr. Adutwum’s team, is intended to boost her campaign efforts, especially given the limited time provided by the Electoral Commission (EC) to prepare for the re-run.

“This support reflects Dr. Adutwum’s commitment to the party’s unity and victory, especially in strongholds like Ablekuma North,” the team said, adding that they were optimistic about the outcome.

The EC scheduled a re-run in 19 polling stations after abandoning an earlier plan to include results from three disputed polling centres, a decision that has reignited campaign activities in the area.

Despite a failed attempt to secure a court injunction against the re-run, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie remains confident, maintaining that she had already defeated her NDC opponent in the original contest.

Dr. Adutwum’s team has since extended their best wishes to her as the party rallies to retain one of its traditional parliamentary strongholds.
