Why Ntim Fordjour would soon be arrested — Sammy Gyamfi shares

A heated debate erupted on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme following the controversy surrounding recent allegations made by the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.

Rev. Fordjour had alleged that two aircraft were linked to drug trafficking and money laundering — claims that have since sparked outrage and calls for accountability.

Responding strongly to the issue, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, warned Rev. Fordjour to prepare to face the full consequences of his claims if he fails to provide evidence.

“In other jurisdictions, he would have been blacklisted,” Sammy Gyamfi stated during the debate.

He stressed that Rev. Fordjour could not hide behind parliamentary privileges to avoid facing National Security.

“If he doesn’t honour the invitation [by National Security] to him and he thinks that he can hide behind his parliamentary privileges, he lie bad. Because he will be arrested. Some of us will insist that he is arrested and you must substantiate that,” Sammy Gyamfi cautioned.

Background:

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South has sparked controversy by alleging that two aircraft which landed at Kotoka International Airport in March 2025 could be linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.

According to Fordjour, intelligence suggested that these planes might have been carrying illicit substances, such as cocaine, and large amounts of U.S. currency.

In response to these claims, President John Mahama has ordered an investigation into the matter, instructing relevant agencies to work with Fordjour to thoroughly examine the allegations.

Despite this, some government officials, including Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, have dismissed Fordjour’s statements as false, accusing him of spreading unverified information.

However, Fordjour has defended his claims, asserting that he raised a legitimate concern and has urged National Security to provide clarity on the matter. He emphasized that he was not the investigator and called for an official review of the aircraft’s contents.
