Why the Ga Traditional Council is warning the Igbo King

The Ga Traditional Council has broken its silence over the growing controversy surrounding Nigerian businessman and self-styled Igbo King in Ghana, His Royal Majesty Eze Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, and his alleged plans to establish an Igbo village in Old Ningo.

In a firm statement released to the public, the Council emphasized its openness to people from all backgrounds, but warned that any actions that disregard the customs of the Ga people would not be tolerated.

“We wish to assure the entire general public that we Gas are a peaceful people and welcome all tribes, communities and people of other nations into the Ga State,” the statement read.

However, the Council cautioned that its hospitality should not be misconstrued as weakness or indifference.

“Any person(s) who disrespect these directives with intent to disrupt the peace of the Ga State shall be dealt with by law,” it added.

Signed by the Council’s Registrar, Evelyn Amewotse, the release is widely seen as a direct response to growing public concern over Eze Ihenetu’s activities, which have sparked debate across traditional and online platforms.

The Ga leadership stressed the importance of mutual respect in maintaining harmony within the region.

“Our goodwill and respect for other tribes and people of other nations should not be taken for granted,” the statement concluded.

The controversy has drawn attention due to videos circulating online showing the Igbo King receiving dignitaries at his plush palace in Ghana.
