World Cup qualifiers is the last roll of the dice for Otto Addo- Sam Johnson

- Ghanaian football legend Sam Johnson has issued a stern ultimatum to Black Stars coach Otto Addo, stating that the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers are his last chance to redeem himself.
Addo has been walking on thin ice following Ghana’s dismal showing in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which ended in the team’s shocking failure to qualify for the continent’s most prestigious tournament for the first time in two decades.
In an interview with Joysports, Johnson insists that Addo must use the World Cup qualifiers as a springboard to revive his fortunes and win back the trust of Ghanaians.
“I will give myself that chance, but it is the last chance that he [Otto Addo] can get. Because after this one, I don’t think Ghanaians will be okay with him even coming back to be an assistant coach of the Black Stars. I can give myself another chance like Otto is doing. [If I were him] I would do my best, I’ll push to get to qualify for the World Cup to redeem myself or my name so that Ghanaians will come back to me.”
With the Black Stars level on points with Comoros at the summit of their World Cup qualification group, a convincing display in March’s clashes against Chad and Madagascar could be the spark that ignites Addo’s revival.
The Black Stars are set to clash with Chad and Madagascar in the next international window, and a positive result will be crucial in determining Addo’s future.
