Yaa Naa’s plea moves TTH doctors to resume emergency services

A royal appeal has turned the tide at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), where doctors have resumed emergency services following a compassionate plea from the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II.

The strike, which had left many patients in distress, saw a breakthrough after a high-powered delegation from the Dagbon Palace, led by Zangbalun Lana Dr. Jacob Mahama, visited the hospital on behalf of the King.

The delegation carried a heartfelt message urging members of the Doctors’ Association of Tamale Teaching Hospital (DATTH) to reconsider their position for the sake of public health.

“We implore you to consider the lives that hang in the balance. The cessation of emergency services has far-reaching consequences, and we fear for the well-being of those who cannot afford to wait,” the Zangbalun Lana stated during the engagement.

He also assured the medical professionals of Yaa Naa’s personal commitment to ensuring their concerns are addressed with urgency.

Shortly after the meeting, TTH announced that emergency services had been restored. A statement on the hospital’s official Facebook page read: “The intervention of the King successfully got the doctors to resume emergency services.”
