YEA signs deal to tackle unemployment through fire service recruitment

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has partnered with the Ghana National Fire Service in a fresh push to create jobs for young Ghanaians while strengthening national fire response efforts.
Through a newly signed one-year agreement, 5,000 youth are set to be recruited and trained as Fire Assistants across the country.
The move, announced on Friday, May 3, 2025, follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
According to a statement from the YEA, the collaboration is part of a broader plan to tackle youth unemployment by working directly with state agencies that play critical roles in public service delivery.
Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, Malik Basintale, signed the agreement on behalf of the agency, with support from the Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, who both attended the ceremony to underscore the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and public safety.
As part of the arrangement, the Ghana National Fire Service will take full responsibility for training and supervising the recruits, who will be posted across the country after successfully completing their training.
Details regarding the recruitment process and eligibility criteria will be released soon.
