Yes, Mr. Chairman, it will be very beneficial – Affo-Toffey on proposed rail line

Deputy Minister-Designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has thrown her weight behind the idea of constructing a railway line linking Jomoro in the Western Region to Tema in the Greater Accra Region, describing it as a project that would significantly enhance the movement of goods and support Ghana’s broader transport agenda.
Speaking during her vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Affo-Toffey noted the importance of expanding the country’s railway network through strategic partnerships and investments.
“If approved, I will work with my sector minister to attract investors and explore public-private partnerships that will help modernise our railway system,” she told the committee.
When asked about the viability of a direct rail route between Jomoro and Tema, she was unequivocal in her support. “Yes, Mr. Chairman, I will support it. It will be very beneficial,” she affirmed.
She further assured members of the committee of her readiness to contribute effectively to the growth and transformation of Ghana’s transport and railway infrastructure.
