You can’t bend the law of God

Bishop Owusu Ansah has criticized Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur following a Kumasi High Court ruling on the widowhood rites of late musician Daddy Lumba.

“You, the judge, wait. We will come to you with the word of God. I am taking my time. You want to tell us that there is no use in getting married lately. You want to tell us that adultery is not a sin. God will deal with you, and He won’t let you go free,” Bishop Ansah said.

He added, “God will never let you go free. He will deal with you as He did with Nebuchadnezzar. This will serve as a warning to others.

“You can’t bend the law to change what the Bible has said. We will come straight with the word of God and speak the mind of God. You want to destroy the next generation, but we will never keep quiet.”

The controversy follows the November 28, 2025 ruling in Kumasi High Court, which allowed Daddy Lumba’s partner, Odo Broni, to perform widowhood rites alongside his legal wife, Akosua Serwaa.

The decision came after Serwaa petitioned the court seeking recognition as the sole surviving legal spouse of the late musician.

Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur presided over the case, ultimately granting both women the right to partake in the rites, a judgment that has gone done well with supporters of Akosua Serwaa, Lumba’s first wife.
