You can’t call for probes after endorsing violence – Kwakye Ofosu to NPP

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, has sharply criticised the Minority Caucus for demanding an investigation into the violence that erupted during the Ablekuma North parliamentary election rerun.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which the Minority represents, lacks the moral authority to make such a call.
A party that endorsed violence during elections cannot come today and call for investigations into acts of violence. It is those of us who condemned it in the past and are condemning it today who can make such a call, he stated on the floor of Parliament.
Kwakye Ofosu argued that under the Akufo-Addo administration, the NPP had consistently allowed electoral violence to flourish without accountability, contributing to a dangerous culture of impunity.
He maintained that this failure to act over the past eight years has emboldened perpetrators and set the stage for incidents like those witnessed in Ablekuma North.
He further accused NPP officials of hypocrisy, pointing out their own history of inflammatory rhetoric.
“Their officials are on record as having vowed that there will be violence in Akwatia. Even as they call for action to be taken, they are threatening violence”, he said.
