You live in my mind rent-free

Former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame has delivered a scathing response to legal practitioner Thaddeus Sory, accusing him of an unhealthy obsession and a sustained campaign of personal attacks cloaked in legal commentary.

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Dame addressed Sory directly, suggesting that the latter’s repeated criticisms reveal more about personal animus than legal substance. “I live in your mind rent free. Indeed, your obsession with Godfred Dame is bewildering and needs healing,” Dame wrote.

According to Dame, Sory has devoted “enormous energy, time and resources” to attacking his professional conduct and decisions, particularly in his capacity as Attorney-General. Dame, however, insists that such efforts are rooted in malice rather than merit.

He further took issue with the tone and language of Sory’s recent writings, describing them as “abusive and offensive,” and not befitting someone of Sory’s rank at the Bar.

“The language you employ is in clear contravention of the rules of professional conduct and etiquette,” he said, leaving the matter in the hands of regulatory bodies to assess any professional breaches.

Although Dame admitted to previously ignoring Sory’s public criticisms, he explained that he felt compelled to respond this time to clarify “a few things you have got fundamentally wrong.” He dismissed the rest of Sory’s assertions as “vile propaganda.”

Addressing a specific claim made by Sory—where the lawyer alleged Dame boasted about never losing a case during his tenure—Dame clarified the record, challenging what he described as distortions in Sory’s narrative.
