You played us all – Martin Amidu calls out Kissi Agyebeng

Former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has launched a scathing attack on the current SP, Kissi Agyebeng, accusing him of deliberately misleading Ghanaians over the INTERPOL Red Notice request for ex-Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

In a blistering open letter, Amidu called out what he describes as “a grand fraud” orchestrated by Agyebeng and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), stating that the SP had already contacted INTERPOL for a Red Notice as far back as 12 February 2025 — long before his June 2 press conference.

According to Amidu, Agyebeng’s claim during the live media briefing — that he submitted the request just 30 minutes before facing the press — is nothing short of a “barefaced and irredeemable lie.”

He slammed the SP for trying to look like a magician who could summon international cooperation with a snap of his fingers.

“Anyone with a shred of investigative experience knows this process takes months, not minutes,” Amidu said, accusing Agyebeng of deliberately playing with public perception.

Even more damning, Amidu questioned the legality of the SP’s actions:

  • Did Agyebeng cancel the original arrest warrant before claiming to remove Ken from the wanted list?
  • If he didn’t, why pretend a new arrest warrant was in effect?
  • And if he did, when did he get the court to issue a fresh one?

He says the timeline simply doesn’t add up.

Amidu didn’t mince words — if true, this misconduct shows “a lack of high moral character and proven integrity”, and could be grounds for removal from office.
