Young man found dead in suspected suicide at Kade

According to local media reports, a young man, believed to be in his late twenties, was found dead in an apparent suicide.
His lifeless body was discovered hanging from a piece of cloth tied to a tree behind a house.
The deceased, a former student of Kade Senior High Technical School, was retrieved by the police, who have since deposited the body at the Kade Hospital morgue for further examination.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Suicide remains a growing concern in Ghana, with statistics from the Mental Health Authority revealing that 81 lives were lost to suicide in the first half of 2024, compared to 48 within the same period in 2023.
Additionally, there were 543 reported suicide attempts in 2024, with most cases involving young people aged 15 to 30.
While Greater Accra records the highest number of completed suicides, the Eastern and Central Regions remain hotspots for attempted cases.
Experts continue to express concern over the trend, emphasizing the need for mental health awareness and support systems.
