Nigerian Businessman and self-styled royal, HRM Don Sylvester Nweke has caused a stir following controversial remarks he about marriage during an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast
Sharing what he described as lessons from his personal experiences, Nweke warned men against empowering their wives or girlfriends financially.
“Your problem starts as a man the day you open business for your wife or girlfriend. The day you empower her, your problem starts,” he declared, recalling events from his past marriage.
According to him, his own generosity contributed to marital issues.
“I have an ex-wife, I bought her car, took her abroad and opened a mini supermarket for her,” he said.
Nweke went further, citing an example of a marriage that collapsed after five decades, despite the couple’s Christian background and seemingly unshakable bond.
“I have seen a husband and wife that stayed 50 years in marriage and on their 50th year, they started having a problem which made him do a DNA test only to find out only their last daughter that caused their fight was his only biological child.
“Fifty years of a Christian woman that stays at home, doesn’t go out and you can vow for,” he recounted.
In his view, the solution for African men lies in polygamy.
“I believe as an African person, you should marry many wives to have peace because many wives gives peace,” he stated.
