You’re paying for voting out a generous gov’t—NPP MP to teachers

Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Hon. Kennedy Nyarko Osei, has commended the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for addressing longstanding issues related to teacher payments and allowances.

In a post on Facebook, Hon. Nyarko Osei highlighted that under the Akufo-Addo government, teachers who were owed back pay received their full entitlements immediately upon posting.

He further noted that the administration introduced the Continuous Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) and the Continuous Development In-Service Allowance (CDISA), both of which are paid annually in November.

He criticized the subsequent Mahama administration for struggling to consistently disburse these allowances.

His post read “Under the leadership of former President Akufo-Addo, the issue of teachers not receiving what’s due them were resolved, ensuring that teachers received their full back pay immediately upon posting.

The Akufo-Addo administration also introduced the Continuous Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) and the Continuous Development In-Service Allowance (CDISA), which are paid annually every November. However, the Mahama administration struggled to pay these allowances.

This reflect the decision you took in voting against a government that gave you so much but did not fully appreciate it.”
