You’ve crossed the line, meet me in court – Sam George drags P.K. Sarpong to court over Lexus gift allegation

Ningo-Prampram MP Samuel Nartey George is taking no prisoners in his quest to protect his reputation.

The outspoken lawmaker has filed a lawsuit against P.K. Sarpong, a known NPP activist and political commentator, following explosive allegations made on Facebook.

In a writ issued on 2nd June 2025 by the High Court of Justice in Accra (Suit No. GT/0845/2025), Sam George is suing P.K. Sarpong (also known as Whispers) and demanding he appears in court within eight days or risk judgment being entered in his absence.

“He’s finally going to answer for his words,” Sam George was quoted as saying. “You cannot just sit behind a keyboard, fabricate stories, and think there’ll be no consequences.”

The controversy stems from a Facebook post in which P.K. Sarpong alleged that Sam George had received a top-of-the-range Lexus vehicle as a gift, which he described as “unregistered.”

In the post, Sarpong directly addressed former President John Mahama, invoking his newly launched Code of Conduct, which discourages public officials from accepting gifts that could compromise their integrity.

“Dear President John Dramani Mahama, Let me repeat, this unregistered Lexus your appointee is using is a gift to him!” Sarpong wrote, claiming that Sam George was violating Mahama’s own directive.

He further teased the public with: “I will keep the identity of the gifter close to my chest for now.”

That post didn’t sit well with the MP.

“This is not just about me; it’s about setting boundaries in our political discourse,” Sam George said.

“You can’t go around accusing people of corruption and hide behind partisan politics when you’re called out.”

While P.K. Sarpong has yet to issue a formal response, the legal writ is clear: he must appear in court or face default judgment.

Legal experts say this case could set a precedent for how public figures respond to defamatory claims on social media.

“Freedom of speech doesn’t shield anyone from accountability,” Sam George emphasized.
