It is thought that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), met with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in order to choose his running mate.
The NPP’s running mate was decided after a late-night discussion between the president and Dr. Bawumia at the Jubilee House.
A presidential source indicated that Dr. Bawumia presented his selection to the President last night.
Although not formally, according to a second source, Bawumia’s decision has also been communicated to the National Council of the NPP.
“I know Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s name was discussed and the President is okay with that,” a source said.
However, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is yet to formally present Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh to the National Council; if accepted, an official announcement will follow subsequently.
