I remain convinced this marriage is fragile

Popular Ghanaian blogger and journalist Stephen Adjetey Abban, widely known as Gabs, has shared his seasoned perspective on the recent marital tensions between Nigerian actress Regina Daniels and her husband, Ned Nwoko, recalling his extensive coverage of their controversial union from 2019.

Writing from his platform on Facebook, Gabs revealed that he was at the forefront of breaking the story while working for a leading Ghanaian blog that consistently dominated Nigerian entertainment news.

Despite his editorial mandate to stick to factual reporting at the time, he confessed to harboring deep personal reservations about the marriage from the very beginning.

“I couldn’t help wondering: how could such a fine young woman walk into a polygamous marriage with a man who could birth her own father?” Gabs wrote, echoing the sentiment of many observers at the time.

He shed light on the familial pressures that surrounded the union, noting that Regina’s father “reportedly opposed the marriage vehemently,” a fact underscored by a video his team published showing the man lamenting being sidelined by Regina’s mother. According to Gabs, the mother “single-handedly pushed the marriage through.”

This history, he suggests, makes any current struggles “sadly, not entirely surprising.” While acknowledging hearing rumors that the couple’s recent rift may have been resolved, Gabs expressed a firm, long-held conviction about the marriage’s stability.

“I remain convinced that this marriage is fragile and won’t go far,” he stated, pointing to Ned Nwoko’s own past comments that pressure from his kinsmen to marry a woman from his hometown was a significant factor.

Gabs concluded that the union “appears, in large part, orchestrated by her mother, a move tied to economic considerations.”

In a wry nod to the prevailing sentiment among younger generations, he ended his reflection with the popular phrase, “It’s better to cry in a Range Rover than in a Keke for a man.”

For those seeking the latest developments, Gabs deferred to Nigerian blogger Kemi Talks, whose ability to break exclusive stories he called “unmatched.”
