NDC donates GHC 60,000, consoles families of Obogu Church accident victims

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, together with regional party executives, visited Obogu in the Asante Akyem South Municipality on Saturday, August 10, to console families of 16 members of the Saviour Church of Ghana who died in a July 28 road accident.

The victims were returning from the church’s annual event when their vehicle collided with a fuel tanker around 2:30 p.m.

The tragedy left the community in shock, with four other members still receiving treatment, all reportedly responding well.

During the visit, the NDC donated GH₵10,000 to the church and GH₵50,000 to the affected families.

Addressing the mourners, Mr. Nketiah acknowledged the deep pain, especially for families who lost multiple loved ones.

“If this was not the work of God, we would have been pointing accusing fingers at some people or something else,” he said, urging them to stay strong.

He added that former President Mahama and the NDC extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved.
