The Dagbon traditional area in the Northern Region is preparing to bid a final farewell to the late Mion Lana, Naa Abdulai Mahamadu III, whose funeral rites have been scheduled for May 23 to May 30, 2025.
The revered chief passed away on Tuesday, 16 August 2022, in Accra at the age of 48, following a short illness.
His death came just three years after his enskinment as Mion Lana, a significant sub-kingdom within the Dagbon traditional setup.
His passing was met with widespread grief across Dagbon and beyond, as many remembered him for his dignified leadership and dedication to the customs and unity of the people.
A funeral invitation circulating publicly urges the support and presence of all well-wishers, highlighting the cultural importance of the occasion.
The message reads, “We humbly invite you to come witness the final funeral rites of our beloved Chief (Mionlana Ablai Mahamadu). Your presence and your support is highly needed. Thank you.”
